THE BRIDGE TO A BETTER WORLD

That man could improve himself is a traditionally held belief. We are not necessarily as we are born. Betterment is a reality. Many higher states of existence are available to man and these are available through Scientology. L. Ron Hubbard provided a delineation of these states, and then clarified how they could be attained by arranging them on a chart which graphically showed each step of the route upward.

On this bridge, life is improved on a gradient. It is improved a little, and then a little more. It does not happen all at once. What is improved in Scientology is the individual, not his body or what he owns.

Spiritual advance occurs a bit at a time. One cannot expect to leap immediately to higher levels. The chart Mr. Hubbard laid out is gradiently allowing spiritual gain. the chart which sows these gradations to betterment is called the Classification, Gradation and Awareness Chart of Levels and Certificates.

The chart is divided into two sides - the left-hand side showing training steps one takes in Scientology, and the right-hand side showing the auditing steps.

Man in his religious heritage, has long sought a bridge across the chasm between where one is now and a higher plateau of existence. This is the vision man has had for over ten thousand years. Now it is an exact route with precise procedures providing uniformly predictable spiritual gains when correctly applied. The bridge is complete and can be walked with certainty.

THE GRADE CHART: AUDITING TO HIGHER STATES OF EXISTENCE

Scientology could be defined as a road to truth. The progressive auditing grades are, in reality, those barriers, in order, which keep a person from going forward to an ultimate truth. There are no other barriers to moving up to higher states than those addressed and resolved at each of the levels of the Grade Chart. As he achieves higher levels, he moves closer to transcending truth.

L. Ron Hubbard developed many different auditing processes during his research. He arranged these in a sequence that enables an individual to achieve greater awareness and with this, higher states of existence leading to, finally, a recognition of his own immortal nature.

This road is known as the Grade Chart.

PURIFICATION RUNDOWN

The Purification Rundown can enable a person to advance spiritually through auditing. This rundown addresses the mental and spiritual factors that can come from the use of drugs or the effects of toxins and chemicals in the body. The program detoxifies the body through a combination of exercise, vitamins, nutrition and sauna, closely supervised by trained Scientologists in liaison with medical practitioners. As drugs dull a person's ability to communicate and perceive, this is often one of the first steps on the Bridge.

TRS AND OBJECTIVES PROCESSING

Objective Processing locates the person in his environment, establishes direct communication with the auditor, and brings a person to present time. This latter result is an important factor in spiritual and mental sanity and ability. As a human being can be "stuck" in literally thousands of past moments. The result is an individual with increased perception who is more cause over his body and his environment.

SCIENTOLOGY DRUG RUNDOWN

This rundown unburdens the effects of a person's drug use, and allows him to attain all of the gains possible on his Grade Chart auditing. By addressing the mental and spiritual damage that results from drug use, one experiences considerable relief and expansion as a being.

EXPANDED ARC STRAIGHTWIRE

The subject of Scientology is the person himself, a spiritual being, and so it follows that the first grade would involve restoring a person's direct and immediate understanding of himself. This understanding has three components - Affinity, Reality and Communication - thus ARC.

"Straightwire" refers to the action of putting one in better communication with his mind and the world.

The processes at this level free an individual from the continued deterioration at a personal level.

EXPANDED GRADE 0

The ability to communicate is one of the most fundamental abilities of a being. A being who can communicate is in a state well above what we know as "man." Here we address a person's ability to communicate and free him, in his own estimation, from the blocks in the area.

He who can truly communicate to others is a higher being who builds new worlds.

EXPANDED GRADE 1

Civilized man is mired in PROBLEMS which just get worse the more he tries to "solve' them. The being who can recognize the actual source of problems and so see them vanish is too rare to be easily comprehended. A being in a higher state looks at them and they "vanish" - meaning they cease to be problems.

Through the auditing procedures of expanded Grade 1, the person gains the ability to recognize the actual source of problems, at which point they cease to be problems.

EXPANDED GRADE II

Through misdeeds, harmful acts against one's fellows and other transgressions, one is connecting oneself to what he abhors. When a person unthinkingly transgresses against the mores to which he has agreed, his misery begins. This is the source of the guilty conscience, feelings of vengeance and, actually, all the sufferings and hostilities of life. This is the mechanism by which people create misery, bitterness and hatred around themselves. This is what the rundowns in Expanded Grade II address.

EXPANDED GRADE III

Man is chained to upsets in his past. On Grade III processes one locates specific incidents where upsetting change occurred in life and addresses these so that they no longer adversely affect one.

This grade give the person the freedom to face the future with an enhanced ability to confront, experience and find advantage in the inevitable changes of life.

Freedom from upsets of the past with an ability to face the future is almost an unknown condition in man. It is attained on Expanded Grade III.

EXPANDED GRADE IV

Habit patterns can be nearly impossible to break. Yet these fixed conditions hold a person down and inhibit his ideas and activities that cloud his potential.

Moving out of fixed conditions and being able to do other things is attained on Expanded Grade IV.

NEW ERA DIANETICS AUDITING

The reactive mind plagues a person with the unthinking, irrational dictates of its contents and imposes anxieties, fears, unwanted sensations and feelings and a host of other undesirable effects. Freeing him from the command value such unwanted emotions exert over his volition provides new levels of self-determinism.

New Era Dianetics auditing consists of eighteen separate steps, specific rundowns and actions which address the engrams contained in the reactive mind.

STATE OF CLEAR

The state of Clear has often been described in Dianetics and Scientology. It has always been understated, Time has revealed that Clear is far above anything one has dreamed of previously.

Here is a being who has forever vanquished his own reactive mind, the source of man's misery. He has a very high degree of personal integrity and honesty, and is living proof that man is basically good. His own basic beingness returns and his own personality flourishes. When a person becomes Clear, he loses all the fears, anxieties and irrational thoughts that were held down by pain in the reactive mind and, in short, regains himself.
