Maya's Naming Ceremony
Scientology is an all-embracing religion. It is best described as a religion of religions.
While the Churches and Missions of Scientology are primarily interested in raising one’s spiritual abilities, it also is active in the traditional religious ceremonies such as weddings, christenings, and funeral services. For Scientologists these ceremonies are highly significant and the terms and words spoken have particular spiritual meaning. And to outsiders who are present in such ceremonies they are usually very impressed.
Maya
had her naming ceremony at the local Church of Scientology
of Canberra. When asked in front of the congregation if she was happy
with her name, she indicated with a tiny smile and ready eyes to those
present that she was, be she only three weeks old. The ceremony had a
mixture of non-Scientologists and Scientologists present. Reverend
Broadhurst gave the service.
